Yoga studio building slated for 12South

A 12South property is slated for a new building to offer a yoga studio.

Sisters Dina Shabayek and Nora Shabayek acquired the property, with an address of 2909 12th Ave. S., in late 2017 and are planning to operate their Fahrenheit Yoga Studio at the future facility, a fall completion for which is targeted.

The property is located at the southwest corner of the intersection of Kirkwood and 12th avenues.

Nora Shabayek (on left in photo) said the sisters closed their studio at Harpeth Medical Building in Brentwood in July 2017 after a 6.5-year run. Nora started Fahrenheit Yoga Studio and Dina (on left in photo), formerly an attorney with Nashville-based McGuire, Menke, Reddick & Shabayek, joined the business in March 2017 before the closing and to prepare for operation in the future space.

“We enjoyed being in Brentwood and were happy, but we wanted to control the real estate so that we would not have certain restrictions,” Nora said. “We’re super excited to be in 12South.”

At the Brentwood studio, the Shabayeks had about 7,000 active clients upon closing, Nora said. They employed two managers and offered a roster of 35 instructors working as independent contractors.

For the future building, to stand two floors, the sisters have enlisted Nashville-based Deus Ex Design (David Grisham) for architectural work.

The Shabayeks, via All Sevens LLC, bought the property for $1.575 million last December, according to Metro records. The sellers were two business partners. A small building in which the partners (who paid $199,900 for the property in October 2004) operated a counseling services business has since been demolished.

Pat Howell, a broker with C.A. Howell and Co., represented the sellers.

Matt Eads, a broker with Brookside Properties, represented the Shabayeks.
