Buck Mason, a Los Angeles-based boutique menswear brand specializing in “modern American classics,” will open this spring its first Tennessee location in Nashville's 12South district.
The specialty retailer will take the 1,200-square-foot space in a building (pictured) long home to M.L. Crawford’s Salon, located at 1119 Halcyon Ave. Next door at 2802 12th Ave. S. is Halcyon Bikes. 12South Filling Station operates in a small building located across Halcyon.
Erik Allen Ford and Sasha Koehn founded Buck Mason in 2013. The retailer markets T-shirts, denim jeans, chino pants and button-up shirts. The brand operates 11 brick-and-mortar retail locations in Austin, Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco. To date, Buck Mason has sold more than 1 million T-shirts, all made in Los Angeles. The tees sell for an average of $35.
Buck Mason's Ford emailed the Post the shop will be open seven days per week.
“The 12South neighborhood will be an incredible location for our first store in Nashville,” Ford said. “It's a true destination for shopping, dining and entertainment, and we'll have a group of [strong] local neighbors we admire.”
Buck Mason operated a pop-up shop in Nashville in summer 2018 as part of its so-called 'Open Road Tour,’ via which the company used a renovated vintage school bus as a mobile retail space.
“Nashville is an exciting and fast-growing market where we already have a strong base of e-commerce customers,” Ford told the Post. “It's always been a goal for us because of this large audience of discerning and informed customers who value high-quality, well-made goods, and are looking to Buck Mason to provide this in their wardrobe staples.”
Pat Howell, a broker with C.A. Howell & Company, represented the owner (20th Century Real Estate Corp.) of the property in the lease deal. Andrew Maxwell, with the local office of Orland-based Foundry Commercial, represented Buck Mason.
C.A. Howell’s experience in 12South includes brokering and/or renovating the buildings that house (or previously accommodated) Draper James, Edley’s Bar-B-Que, White Bison Coffee, Marine Layer, Madewell, Corner Music, Fork’s Drum Closet, 12South Dental Studios, Fahrenheit Yoga, Summer Classics, Christie Cookie Company and the Filling Station.
"Buck Mason will be a great addition to the retail mix on the street,” Howell said. “The success of retail in 12South continues to attract innovative brands who see this neighborhood as the place to be. I am happy to connect these brands with property owners to create successful partnerships."
Howell is listing for lease the 12South buildings long home to 21st Century Christian Publishing Company and Bookstore (read here). The buildings at 2809 12th are owned by the same entity that owns the building from which Buck Mason will operate.
